OK, I am officially disturbed by the show I saw on SBS last night. Well the show was interesting and informative in a documentary kind of way and was not inherently disturbing. It was focused on the modern preocupation of what a female's vagina should look like and how many people are flocking to get labiaplasty or removing a bit of outer skin from the vagina. It is yet another TOTALLY unecessary procedure that takes months to recover from. It serves no functional service, is purely aesthetic and I have NO idea how having a small bit of skin cut away from my vagina could possibly (A) increase my self esteem. [b) Increase my worth or desireability from people who matter. (C) Change who I am at all unless I'm a porn star in which case it might help me generate income. I said 'might'because it may make no difference in one's ability to earn money that way either.

I really don't understand people. I can't understand the need for facelifts, boob jobs or now this. It is just pure insanity on an increasing scale.

Thumbs Down I'm personally against cosmetic surgery unless it's for health reasons such as reconstructive surgery. I think it's pure vanity and that level of vanity gets to me. I respect their right to do things like this, but I don't really respect their choice to.
