What would be more Aussie, lamingtons or pavlova?
What would be more Aussie, lamingtons or pavlova?
I like pav better, but its origin is New Zealand. Lamingtons are original Aussie.
If something is good and it's from NZ then it is customarily considered Australian and sucked into the general aussie ownership vortex. For example, inxs. If it is not so good or is discredited somewhere along the way then the distinction is made clear and it is spat out of the aussie ownership vortex. For example Russel Crowe. So although it is a bit too sweet for me I think the general consensus is that pav has been sucked into the aussie ownership vortex and is considered Aussie far and wide. The Aussie ownership vortex works for most things from NZ with the only non subjective exclusion being the "iksent".
I like your imagery... "ownership vortex"
Hey people,
I'm moving to Brisbane in a few weeks, I can't wait!!
Hope to meet some of you!
I'm from NZ, so this thread drew my attention for obvious reasons
Rather than lamingtons or pav, perhaps the issue should be pink lamingtons or brown? With cream or without? With jam?

Ooooooooo ... Such discussions have caused schisms in CWA Branches, that have lasted Generations ...
Best we stick to Religion, Politics & non-Sex IMHO
Pink lamingtons are not lamingtons at all but instead are sponge cake with pink icing and coconut. The difference is decisive. Lamingtons have CHOCOLATE!
Yes, I must agree. I don't like lamingtons much, but pink ones? Nevar!
I'm going to say lamingtons as I find pavlova WAY too sweet
